Peer Course Review

Roles and Responsibilities

Review Team Chair

Keep in contact

1.    You are now the leader of a team and responsible for coordinating team communication. Keep in touch with your other team members and schedule team discussions (electronic or by audio conference) as needed. A contact list is provided in your training handouts. Contact the QR Project Coordinator if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Submit a team calendar

2.    Convene a meeting (electronic or by audio conference) with the Peer Reviewers and Faculty Developer to discuss process and materials. Develop a calendar for your peer review team. Share calendar with all team members and the QR Project Coordinator.

Solve technical problems immediately

3.    You may find yourself in an unfamiliar course management system (e.g., WebCT, Blackboard, Angel, eCollege). If you have difficulty in accessing or navigating the course, contact the faculty developer, and/or QR Project Coordinator immediately for assistance.

Observe confidentiality

4.    Please communicate only with the members of your team about what you find in the course you are reviewing.

Do not copy, change, delete, or add anything

5.    You are an invited guest; resist the urge to make any changes or copy anything without the faculty developer’s permission.

Meet deadlines

6.    Please complete your individual course peer review by the established due date.

Compile Team results

7.    Access your team’s compiled reviews online and create a Final Review Report (Word document template provided) and share with all of the Peer Reviewers on your team. Convene a post-review discussion with the reviewers on your team if needed. Consolidate ratings and recommendations into a Final Review Report and submit to QR Project Coordinator by established due date. (Note: A Team discussion is mandatory if course met at least 12 or 13 out of the 14 essential 3-point standards and/or there are major discrepancies in any scores or comments.)

Thank You!

8.    When we’ve received your Team’s final report, and an invoice, you will receive a check for $250 for your role as a Peer Reviewer and Review Chair.

Review revisions  if needed

9.  Once any revisions necessary for a course to meet missing standards are completed, you may be asked to review the amendment and confirm if they meet the appropriate review standard.

Thank You!

11.  We will send confirmation of your reviewer status to you and your designee(s).
