This agreement between Kirkwood Community College and Northwest Missouri State University provides students who have earned an AAS in Information Systems Management degree the opportunity to complete a BS in Office Information Systems at Northwest. Any Kirkwood student who has earned an AAS in Information Systems Management degree is guaranteed that Northwest will accept designated freshman and sophomore business administration credit hours, general education credits required for the AAS degree, plus any freshman and sophomore general education hours required by Northwest beyond the AAS degree. Northwest will apply such credit hours to the BS in Office Information Systems degree in a manner consistent with the treatment of all Northwest students.
A maximum of 84 credit hours will be accepted by Northwest from Kirkwood to be applied to the BS in Office Information Systems degree. Courses that are developmental (less than 100 level courses) are not transferable toward a baccalaureate degree. Only academic courses with passing letter grades (A, B, C, D) will be accepted for graduation requirements; courses with grades of "F" are not transferable. For information about credits earned through AP, IB, CLEP and dual enrollment programs, please contact the Northwest Admissions office.
Advanced Standing Requirement
To ensure that students have the necessary tools to begin study in their major area, the Department of Computer Science/Information Systems requires that students must meet certain requirements before enrolling in advanced coursework. Students making application to major in Business Education, Computer Science, Interactive Digital Media (CP), Management Information Systems or Office Information Systems must achieve Advanced Standing. Students who have not successfully achieved Advanced Standing prior to becoming an academic senior* (90 or more academic credit hours) will be prohibited from enrolling in any major course until they have achieved Advanced Standing.
To achieve Advanced Standing in Office Information Systems, a student
must:
1. Receive a “C” or better for each required course taken
in the Department of Computer Science/Information Systems.
*In exceptional cases, a student not meeting the “90-hour rule” may appeal to the department’s Advanced Standing Committee.
